A little League ball player,

The little league ball player.

I watched the pitcher wind up and throw the ball. I heard the ball make a loud sound as it hit the catcher’s glove and then I swung. I knocked the ball out of the catcher glove and the umpire ducked and fell to the ground.

I swung at the ball again, as it lay on the ground, but I missed. I swung once more and the ball left the ground at a speed that couldn’t measured. It finally arrived at the pitcher’s feet and as he turned to look for it, he stepped on it a fell to the ground.

I had rounded first and was on my way to second as the first baseman and the catcher were running to the pitcher’s mound, They were signaling for the stretcher bearers to come onto the field. The Umpire was waving his arms and shaking his fist, so I stopped at third. As they loaded the lifeless body, of the pitcher, onto the stretcher and hauled him off the ball field. The crowd was roaring as I rounded second base and was on my way to third. I decided to stay there and didn’t dare to run on home as the Umpire looked really mad. Everyone was yelling at me and I couldn’t understand a word of what they were saying.

My pants were down around my ankles as they were three sizes too large and the cap I had was covering my ears and I could hardly see much of anything. It was then, that this big hand got a hold on me and I was flung into a back seat of a car and away I went. It was my mother trying to protect me from the angry ball players and the crowd. It looked like my career as a ball player was over before it even got started. I spent the rest of the summer at my Aunt’s place in Maine, learning how to crochet and clean fish. This is something that not every ten year old gets to learn.

It was the end of summer and I had returned home, as school was about to start once again. This year, my parents and I, decided I would go out for basket ball. I attended all The training sessions and watches a number of films. I sat on the bench for most of the season and at one of the last games to be played, the coach decided to let me play. I was on the court, watching the cheerleaders, when the ball came flying at me. I caught it and at the same time I saw a bunch of guys coming towards me. I tucked the ball under my arm and ran. I ran up and down the bleachers, around them and under them. Then I saw an opening to run down this long hall. Getting close to the end, I noticed there was no way To get away. Several big guys were coming after me, but all they wanted was the ball, so I gave it to them.. Yup. It was time for another career change!

The following year, we decided I would take cooking lesions. This is something that every one should know. To make a long story short. The cooking class all came down with food poisoning after sampling some of my cooking . Now after all these years, I am in Washington DC. Serving as a Senator from your State. I am up for re-election so please vote for me!
