Slap Happy was by no means the dunce of the family. He came from a very large family, eight of the children were natural brothers and sisters born of the same father and mother. Three were of the first marriage of the step father. And two were born of the Mothers and Step Father. And no one is quite sure where the last or the youngest child came from. He was called “Slap Happy” No other person with the exception of the father, mother and some of the older children knew about this and no one ever told this to Slap Happy.
He just appeared one day and no one knew just when that was. Slap Happy was about eight years of age and the happiest child of all in the family. He always did as he was told and never complained about anything. He would help to do chores with out being ask to, was always clean and dressed properly. His manners were so much better than the other children’s, In fact, it was hard to believe he was a member of that family.
He was around three years when he was first noticed among the other children. I would guess that the Mother assumed he came with the Step father’s family and the Step father assumed he was part of mother’s family. But neither could ever find a certificate of birth for him. Just how he became mixed in with the family was not known. He didn’t look like any one else and definitely brighter than the others. He was the youngest but he knew all the names, dates of birth dates where each was born and who was sick with what and when. He was like the family history book with information.
The Step father was a prominent business man, and well liked in the community. The mother was very pretty, well educated , raised on a farm along with one brother and one sister and she was the oldest. The brother is still working the farm and the sister married and lives in Alaska.
The family home is large and can accommodate everyone with ease, It has four bath-rooms in the house and one in the garage, which could be used as a guest room. Every-one has duties to perform and all is in order most of the time. Slap Happy is often the clown or jokester in the family, When he is quiet he is very quiet and when he is not, you have to keep your eyes open. As student, he is a straight “A” He wins all kinds of awards and is an Ideal citizen at school. He has more friends than any one else and he will share anything he has with them.
A birthday party, he has never had and it is a good thing, as where could one end an invitation list, there just wasn’t room for everyone. He would buy treats and take them to school for his class and they would sing ‘Happy Birthday Slap Happy!’ Where ever you see or hear happy children, he will be in there somewhere with them. Life in the home of this family was interesting to say the least. There were a number of pets in the house, Birds, mice, cats and a dog and something else that no one could identify. It belonged to Slap Happy! It started out as being really small and it is not known just how big it will get It was said that he created it and he refused to say how it was done.
As the years went by, the children all grew up and graduated from college and went their own way with the profession they had chosen, as Doctors. Teachers. Business people and such. No child was left at home with the exception of Slap Happy. And he was going to became a Scientist, but he was interested in every- thing and hadn’t chosen in which field.
Late one evening, Slap Happy was out with his girl friend, setting under a tree with her, when this bright light came into view, then it dimmed and softly set down close by. In just a few minutes a door opened and a man stepped out. He called to Slap Happy and told him to come forward and bring the girl with him and they need not have any fear.
The man and Slap Happy, spoke in a language not understood by the girl, but Slap Happy knew what was being said. Then a women came out of the craft followed by a large group of young people, as many as maybe sixteen or seventeen of them, Then they all went to Slap Happy’s home to talk with the earth parents. There, they told a story that was hard to believe. It seems that some twenty odd years ago, this family, a very large family, left their planet to go on a vacation. Unknown to them when they returned after the vacation was over, one of the children was missing. They hadn’t realized it and only recently learned that a son was missing. They had checked all the places they had traveled to and found nothing, this was the last place left.
The families visited until the early hours of the morning and finally came to a decision. Slap Happy would remain on Earth with this family. and they gave the earth parents a certificate of birth to the parents and handed what looked like a blue marble to Slap Happy. They told him that if he ever wanted to contact them, to toss this marble up into the air and it would bring his message home to their planet. But they would like to take the pet that he had created, home with them. As they were all saying their good-by’s, unknown to anyone, the pet took the marble in it’s mouth and swallowed it. The Earth Father handed a One Dollar Bill ( Legal fee) to the father form the other planet. They all stood there, waving good-by to the craft as it lifted up off the ground and disappeared off in to space.
Slap Happy went on to become a Great Scientist and years later, he started to turn Blue and knew things that were about to happen, before anyone else, He could understand things that no one else could. He disappeared and was never heard from again.
Someone said they had seen him at Wal Mart, but it wasn’t true. But maybe you have felt, that eyes have been watching you, could it be Slap Happy?
