Have you ever gone shopping for groceries in a Submarine? It was hard to find a place to park at the store wasn’t it? I heard about a guy trying to land his balloon in a parking lot, so they could get food to travel on. I think this happened down in Texas somewhere. Anything is possible in Texas as you should know!
I saw a wagon with a hayrack and a four horse team, parked at a grocery store in Deadwood once, but it was part of a parade that had been going on a short time before. The people didn’t even clean up the mess left by the horses. I also saw a bear riding a bicycle at the same time. But he or she never left a mess to clean up.
Once I had a little too much to drink and I couldn’t see anything. Don’t know who drove me home, I was told it was Peggy. Had I known it, I would have had a heart attack. That is a slow death sentence, riding with her! Whenever she drives, she is scared to death and so nervous she make anyone with her scared and nervous.
My mother was the same way, only she managed to run into something to stop the car. Dad was always doing some kind of repair work on another car, railing or building. She finally gave up trying to drive. We all took a deep breath and relaxed. I remember this from a time we lived in Nevada Gulch, just west of Lead, SD. Dad had her go down to a place called Oscar’s to get him some beer, I rode along with her. As she went to turn into Oscar’s place, she ran into a Brand New Chevy driven by an old guy from Sturgis. He had just bought the car and was on his first outing with it! This made him so sick he was vomiting all over the place. Needless to say, we went home without the beer!
Peggy was born to be a driver in a car demolition contest. I can remember when she ran a huge earth moving machine off the road. The guy saw her coming and took to the ditch. He knew it was a women driver. Once she let the car get away from her and it rolled down this hill and took out a fence of a neighbor. I didn’t find out about that until the Sheriff came after me! Another time she, turned to go into a diary farm, knocked out an entry gate and a number of feet of post and railing fence. Had to remove the left front fender of the car to turn the steering wheel before it could be moved. Once she parked the car on main street in Sturgis, left our small child in the car with the motor running. Somehow, the car backed out onto the street and knocked the front ends out from under of two Fords, that were parked on the street.
Most Fairy-tales start with: “Once upon a time” and you didn’t see that here! I thought I was going to have to buy her a crash helmet, but she stopped driving, “well” almost any-way! She was starting to be known as “The Crusher” back then. This all happened before the state required drivers to have a drivers license and carry insurance. Guess there were too many Peggy’s on the road. You don’t have to be professional to do damage to another car, If you park in any parking lot you are inviting damage to your car.
At one time Peg was driving back and forth from Rapid City to Sturgis every day as she was working in Rapid City and living in Sturgis, I am sure glad that I didn’t know about all the near accidents she might have had.
As for myself, My reaction time, vision and alertness has demised so much, I try not to drive anymore than necessary. I learned that I can’t ride a bicycle anymore either! The broom we have, will only seat one person. But she can’t use it as there is no place to carry home groceries. Some people actually walk to the store and carry home what they buy. They save money they get exercise and are a lot healthier. I keep telling myself this, but I don’t really believe it. Plus they don’t have to worry about someone doing damage to their car.
Have you any idea how much a taxi charges you for a short ride?, You have to get a bank loan before you call a cab, and as you know, Banks are not loaning money unless you have something worth five times the amount you want to barrow. Something that they can repossess and liquidate fast to recover their money.
All balls don’t bounce you know! Meaning no two banks are the same, so you really have to read the fine print! Many businesses are going under because of the bad economy. No business is safe from going down the tube.
Let us take a look at the body and fender repair shops, Since they have less work, they have to go out looking for customers. This takes time and they will receive no income for this time spent looking for customers. Some people have a new way to get business and it is keeping their bill paid and food on the table.
There is a new concept and it is growing in this area, especially for new car owners. Now I can’t prove this, but some body shops are having teenagers go out looking and do damage to the car. The person will locate a car, bump it hard with his knee causing a dent. They make the dent in a place that has easy access. They write down the plate number and find the owners name and address. Then they call or send advertisements to promote their business. It only takes a bump from the other side to remove the damage. This can often be pulled back in place using a suction cup. No body work done, no painting to do. You keep the car for a few days or maybe a week and the customer picks up his car and hands you money. Everyone is happy! As we all know, there is no such thing as minor body work. The person doing the damage will receive a percentage of the work cost in cash. No insurance to notify, so your rates don’t go up, no police report to make, no lawyer’s fees to pay, The economy is better and tax is collocated.
Now can any of you tell me, who is the biggest crook here????
