ON the Sixty Second year, a Poem for a wife

On the, 29 day of Feb, 1948 . our sixty second year of Marriage
I wrote a poem for my wife “Peggy”

( A poem for a very special person )

Butterfly wings are beautiful, it’s true,
The way they move, and their beauty, reminds me of you.

The memoirs they bring, from the beginning of time,
This can never be matched before arriving at the end of the line.
Who could create so much love. For a family of eight,
So much more than one will find at that Golden gate.

My life began, when I first saw you,
These wonderful things I could not dream.
You have made life worth while, with love and anger, it’s true.
And you also made the sky, change from gray to blue.

What came before was always the plan.
Where others before you had played in the sand,
They grew much too fast and left my home.
Now it’s just you, to share my throne.

My cup runneth over, when you invaded my heart,
What a great day it was. When we went from one to two.
With new life, abounding, our home became a zoo,
And it left no place to run or to hide,
What we were given, soon became our pride

With a landslide of love, one needs not to hide.
I had no choice but to survive.
You made my heart beat, faster then the spinning earth.
Thanks to your parents for giving you birth

Now get up and get my breakfast, before I go,
And while you are at it, take down that damn mistletoe…..

“Ben”
