Where do we go from here?
Christmas is here again, most of you have been busy making plans for the Holidays. Some have been shopping all years long for those special gifts. The economy has been bad and money has been tight for every one, The stores have been stocked with more items that you can imagine and a selection has been harder for you to make. You have more friends this year and each one needs to know that you care for them, and you think a gift will show them how much.
Some of them will receive a gift that was expensive, and it cost more than you had wanted to spend. Some of your friends will get a gift of little value, after all, you wanted them to know they were close enough to receive a gift from you.
All families grow, children are added to the family. nephews and nieces increase in number and the older they get, the gift will cost more. Then the uncles and aunts , Grand-parents, if you are lucky enough to still have them. Maybe there was a gift exchange at school or at work, There appears to be no end to the giving of gifts.
The worst part is: People have forgotten what Christmas is all about. This is a special Day for Christ. The day of his birth a long time ago. Three wise men traveled to his birth place with a gift, it was his day for celebration. Then the merchants took the day away from him and now use it to make money.
The number of people around the world has increased, but the number that celebrate this day for Christ has gotten smaller and smaller. Why? Because you and I and millions of other people have more respect for the merchants than we do God. I watch people going into and coming out of stories all day long, day after day and dropping money into a Red kettle. Where does this money go? First it is used for wages to pay the for all top people in the orangainazion and all the equipment they buy and use, the cars, the buildings they own or rent. The guy that stands out in the cold all day, ringing the bell, is a volunteer, But you need to know, The needy people may or may not get what is left.
A family that lives not too far away, with several small children, lost the Father a few years back. The children are not forgotten, they receive Candy, toys. Bicycles And food from thoughtful people. But are they getting what they really need? What about love, time for answering question, guidance, friendship or maybe just to be held by someone. They need more food. Help to pay bills like heat and lights or the phone. Everyone has a car or maybe even two. TV’s in more than on room. a Radio’ and other house hold items. Insurance is a big problem for almost everyone and you thing all the poor families have welfare, but they don’t! What churches and originations do for some people is little. People are falling through the cracks all around us. Just open your eyed and you can see it. Does anyone ever ask the poor, what it is that they really need.

I knew of an old lady friend that was going with out everything, A few other friends and I, arranged for Meals on wheels which was only twice a day for her. Someone told the church about her they called on her and gave her a bible. A few weeks later, she found in a cold house, setting in her chair wrapped in a blanket with the bible in hand, dead. Question, Did that bible really herp her ?
What I am trying to say is, the needy people need more that just food and water and a person will give something and thank that will take car of all the problems, but it won’t, and never will. Help is needed day after day, week after week and month after month. We should never give someone hope and then take it away from them. Some people think that money will do everything. Yes. give it to an orgnazion so they can give to a needey person , and one of them will put it in his own pocket.

Most older people have nothing, some older people have all the money they need, but they are still just as needy. Some of our senior citizens need so much help, they prefer to just die and not become a burden on anyone.
Yes we all know about the needy and we all want to help and we all find a reason why we can’t help. What on this earth can be more important than a human life ?

How much help do you need? who will help you? The end of life comes to everyone, think about it. plan for it.
This is not the kind of letter that you want to receive at this time of the year, but it is one that is needed. Think of all the good your money would do for those people that need help. Don’t you think we should all change our ways and help people and not them big time merchants? I am ready, in fact I took them store owner or merchant off my list a long time ago.
I have love to give, what else do you need?
