" There's a Bear in the Woodshed "

The old dog was going crazy and his barking was beyond being ferocious. I had to put the dog in the house, but that never stopped him or slowed him down any.

The last I saw the Bear, he was in the woodshed eating green paint and scratching it's balls. Well, it was scratching something. We called the Game Warden and he came after an hour or so and he was going to shoot a dart into the Bear and put him to sleep. Some how the needle got stuck in the game warden’s rear and he went to sleep. We carried him into the house and laid him on the couch, where he slept for a number of hours. That green paint wouldn’t last long, so we were hoping the warden would wake before the Bear was done.

By this time, the Bear had left the shed. and even closed the door, then off he goes in to the country side. He stopped to get a drink in the creek and then disappeared.

The shed is in a mess now, and we had just organized re-arranged it a few days ago. Wonder who told the Bear about the paint? The Bear left green paw prints every where and we decided to leave them to remind us of this day.

I don’t know what is in the paint that Bears like. But I have heard how Bears like to eat paint. This Bear may not have a green thumb, so don’t count on him being a vegetarian.

Bears were once all over this country, but they haven’t been seen in a long time. My Grand-mother has a Bear rug, that Grand-Dad killed many years ago. And my little sister has a Teddy bear and those are the only Bears I have ever seen before.

You just can’t keep anything a secret, with so many of them damn I-Pods and Cell phones around. People are still coming around to see the paw prints that the old Bear left. But if you want to know, (the story about the Game Warden getting needled in his rear), is better known that the one on the Bear. He was an average size black bear and “she” may even have been a “he”. Could it have been “Gentle Ben the Bear”, of that TV show ?

When the Game warden came too, he was still groggy and wasn’t sure what had happened. Once he had a clear head, he got into his Van and drove away. Our place is only a mile or two from town, and we figured he would make it with-out any problem.

The next day we heard that on the way to town, the Warden saw the Bear and got a shot with his dart gun. Nailing the beast and while it was sleeping, he had loaded it into his van, But before he got to his destination, the Bear awoke and had torn the inside of the van to pieces.

He also had done a fair job on the game Warden and he required a large number of stitches.
He is resting nicely at the local hospital. As the Bear was leaving town, it was reported that he had destroyed a few fences, a couple of out houses, of which one was occupied, a hen house and a few clothes lines. Where he or she is now, no one knows.

Come to think about it, I have one of them living here with me, posing as a cook. and it knows what money is for…….
