We have had this Mule since she was a pup. Most of the time she is a nuisance She is a curious mule, when ever you are out doing something, she comes a running and sticks her nose right where it shouldn’t be. She was named Jenny, but everyone calls her Co Ko. I call her Doorph, She is either the smartest mule you have ever seen or the dumbest in the whole country.
She useless to do anything with, Load her as a pack mule and she won’t move. Get on her back to ride and she won’t move a hoof. Try to coax her to come and she will just stand there and look at you. She loves chocolate and looks every where for it. But try to get her to move by offering her chocolate and she is frozen in place.
Once we had a horse race on our place and five horses were running in the race. Doorph, took off in the last position and won the race. Then she just stood there Hee- Hawing. We sold her to a guy in the next county and the next day she was back in her stall. This happened six days in a roll. We used up more money for gas, taking her back, than she is worth.
She loved music, we had a radio in the barn and she was always messing with it. Once she found a station on the radio that she liked, she would stay there and dance for hours.
This girl could open any gate and pretty much went where ever she wanted too. She knew where all the feed was stored and was always into it. We moved it up to the next level in the loft and she kicked the post out from under it and the grain fell.
If she wanted something, she would stand outside your window, and kick up a rumpus, until she got what she wanted. We had a number of discussions on what we were going to do with her. There was no way we can afford to keep her , when she can’t be used for anything. It came down to where we had two choices, we could sell her to a meat packing plant for dog food or breed her and sell the young ones. We decided to breed her first and if that didn’t work out, we would sell her to the meat packing plant.
She gave birth to twins the first time and the two were more trouble. One was hit by a falling star and the other was given away. The second time she gave birth to only one and we were not going to take a chance with it, so we sold that one as soon as we could.
Maybe we were using the wrong stud, so we tried a different one! Co Ko or Doorph, fell in love with this stud and she kept running away to where he was stabled. We told the guy to keep her and he did.
The last I heard of Doorph, or Co Ko, she was in Washington DC. Heading up a political party, and was always causing problems within the party and the Government. She changed her name, and is now called Momma Bomma. I am sorry, but we should have shot or given her to the meat Packing plant to start with.
