" In the beginning "

This object came from a far and landed in an open field. It was fire red and it took along time for it to cool. People came from near and far just to look at it. After some time, the object started to Humm, raise and hover and then, off it went, and it disappeared in space.

Some time later, a team of horses were racing down this old country road, on the way to the county doctors office. It took a while to get there, with all the bumps and ruts in the road, the old wagon was in the air most of the time. It had been raining and the rain had turned into snow and slush. The horses were sliding and skidding all over the roads and streets and were having a hard time staying on their legs.

The old girl was screaming to get the doctor quick, as she was going to give birth to this baby in the wagon box. At the Doctor’s office, the driver jumped down from the wagon seat and ran to the door, almost breaking it down. He found no one there, then he went next door to see if anyone knew where the old doctor could be found. Again, there was no one at home. He knocked at doors all the way down the street. Then he ran to the fire station and the police station, No one could be found.

He ran back to the wagon where the woman was screaming her head off. One person put a hand over her mouth so they could hear each other talk. They started driving the wagon down the street and just out side of the town, they could see smoke coming from a chimney, They took the woman from the wagon, to the door and they went in. When they opened the door, they saw only an old witch stirring a big cast iron pot. The witch told them to bring the women closer and hold her head over the kettle, so she could breath the vapors coming from the kittle. The woman settled down as soon as she got a whiff from the pot.

Soon she was giving birth and there were six of them, a green one, a blue one and one that was almost orange . One was black or a dark brown/ One of a color that I had never seen and one that was white as snow.

The old Owl in the tree out side was hooting and you could hear the cries of coyotes all around, A dark cloud blacked out the moon and the mighty wind blew. The black cats hissed and arched their backs, The broom fell over and just laid there, Two of the babies were female and one was a male. It was hard to say what the other three were! There was no thunder or lighting, as the Thunder Witch was on vacation.

There was no morning News Paper, that day, as the publisher didn’t know what to report. There could be several stories here and he didn’t know what to print. The paper was a small one and he thought he could save some of the news for the next issue! Besides that, no one knew what to call the new births. Had nature made a mistake or was it the wagon ride in to town? There were questions that needed to be answered. Was the mother a drinker or using drugs. Maybe she had slipped her clutch once to many times. Could it have been something in the water? An investigation was in order.

This is what life was like in the early days. People would believe in many things, true or not. People shared water wells with each other and people in the communities were close to each other. Some really acted strange and they all looked different, I am not from the country or do I live in a town. I had a choice to get off that space ship, on the moon or on this planet called earth. I wonder if I made a mistake. I guess time will tell… Ogga-Ogga !
