" J. J. Cricket and I "

As the years passed, I had fished in many places and I caught a lot of fish. I never did have to stop at a meat market to buy any. As time went by I found other baits to use, Corn was a good one some bait came in cans or little jars, but they never were much good. You could buy lures in many colors and shapes, if you had money. I tried peas and live bugs, and once I used a cotton balls and the fish would jump at that one before I even got it in the water.

Once I bought my girl a small bottle of cologne and took her fishing with me. I noticed how all the bugs , bees and other insects stayed away from her, I spilled a small amount on the cotton balls and the fish were jumping out of the water and up on the bank, trying to get to my tackle box, trying to get to that stuff . It was funny how the fish laid over on their sides and floated, after getting one of them cotton balls in their mouths.

That was so easy to do, it was no longer any fun, so I gave up fishing. I was told that the cotton balls choked them to death. Fish are a lot like girl friends. Girls use perfume and cologne to attract men or boys, it makes them dizzy and they become confused and don’t know what they are doing. Fish do the same thing and it even kills some of them.

You need to use different things to catch different fish! Have you ever heard of the kissing fish? They smack their lips together and that makes a kissing sound, These fish are also known as Cat Fish. Bull Heads are found in many places with standing water. If you can catch one with Horns. It’s worth a lot of money. If the horns work, it is worth even more. There is one that I have heard about, but have never seen, It is called Cat-a-lac fish, It has twin fins that light up.

I once had a friend named J. J. Cricket, We wanted to become commercial fisherman. We bought a thirty five foot boat with an inboard engine and it had a cabin and we could go out in deep water with it. It was rigged for big game fish. Jim would stand on the hook as I lowered him into the water, when he saw a fish we wanted, he would jerk the line and I would stop lowering the hook in that spot.

Jim word do almost anything to attract that fish, once the fish took the hook, I would bring it aboard and remove Jim from the fish, After a short rest Jim would get back on the hook and we would do it all again. Sometimes the fish would swallow Jim so far down in it’s belly, I would take surgery to recover Jim.

Jim finally went a little nuts and had to retire. I never was a great Fisherman, but I think I can tell a good fish story. I once had to hire a crane to load a fish on a trailer to get him home and that was in a small stream with only twelve inches of water.
