"I swear, I never seen a thing"

I was setting there in my car, waiting for the lady to come out of the store, she had been in there for days and I had forgotten what she was wearing.

There was a commotion or something going on up the street and I had no idea what it was. The next thing I knew, someone was at the window of my car, yelling and screaming something that I didn’t understand.

I reached for the handle on the door to open the window so I could hear more clearly, that is when the back door was opened by someone I didn’t see. Then a voice that I could hardly hear or see where it came from, was mumbling more words that I didn’t understand. It sounded like an echo coming from a person digging a deep water well in the ground.

The next thing I knew, a policeman that I didn’t know was pointing a gun that I never seen, at me and telling me get out of the car and when I did I saw that it wasn’t my car, that I was setting in.

It was apparently a car that someone had put there for a quick get away. But the officer that was pointing the gun at me, must have been Chinese because his language was foreign to me, but that gun said I had better do something. So I fainted. I was drinking a root beer soda at the time and it had spilled on my crotch and made it look as if I had wet my pants and that was probably half right!

When we arrived at the police station, it looked like they were having a carnival or a circus for children, There were kids large and small, old and young, everywhere and one couldn’t hear themselves think. That is when I got really scared as the police were firing their guns in the air and one of them shots went whizzing by my ear and a small piece of flesh, no blood, was just hanging there on my ear. There was blood coming from my mouth, as I had bitten my lip, when the gun went off and I jumped. I still had no idea what was going on or why I was taken to the police station.

The cell smelled of alcohol the report said I had been drinking. I tried to tell them that I do not drink and ask for a blood test to prove it. Again, my request was ignored. There was another person in the cell with me. She said she was the wife of the police chief and they wouldn’t believe her and her husband was much too busy to even look at her.

I didn’t get any sleep that night with all those little kids crying most of the night. One policeman was taking kids to the bath room, one after the other, all night long. If I did start to doze off, the Chief’s wife would start to snore. That made the bunks vibrate, and the bugs left the mattresses by the thousands.

The dog & cat pound appeared to be close by and the cats were having a great time trying to catch some of them bugs, some were as big as the cats. And this gave the dogs something to bark at.

When the sun did come up, my head was hurting so bad and was too big to get it through the iron bars on the cell door. Then the two police-man came and drug me to a place in front of the Judge, He pounded his gavel on a block of wood that was on his desk in front of him and the echo from that sound broke both of my ear drums. Now we had to write and read each others notes.

I had no idea what the verdict was, that the judge handed down, but they drug me back where the cells were and got a fire hose out and sprayed me with water to wash off the bugs and pushed me out into the street. I still didn’t understand what had taken place or what was going on.

The next time some one wants me to pick them up at a store, the answer is No ………
