Okay,
so you think that Pigeons don’t have hands, well you are wrong, because this
one does. His name is: Homer Pigeon and he is pure white with blue eyes, you might want to say he is an Albino.
He
keeps his hands tucked in under his wings when not flying, Homer once tried to
be a carrier pigeon, but it didn’t work out for him. The message is usually
fastened to a pigeon’s leg, in a small container, but Homer had hands and he
wanted to carry the messages in his hands. But for a number of reasons, he
would always drop or lose them. So Homer was used as a distraction, He served
as a message carrier in the battle fields, when one was needed. Homer has
earned a number of medals for dangerous assignment that he has carried out. He
has been wounded a few times and awarded the Blue heart, three or four times.
When
Homer is needed, he is taken to where ever that is, Because as you know, pigeons
are released for a place where they have been taken to, and they will return
home. A specially trained solder travels with him. The solder is a sergeant and
Homer holds the rank of Captain.
Captain
Pigeon was a retarded pigeon and was raised by a chicken named Bertha. He could
never learn to fly until a chicken hawk snatched him away from a chicken coop,
Homer was too small for the hawk to eat and he did look kind of funny. Homer
fell out of the hawk’s nest a number of times and the hawk would pick him up and fly him back to the nest,
One
day homer fell and he had a small branch in his hands and it was bothering his
wings, so he spread his wings and he was
gladding along and he made a perfect landing a few hundred yards away. He had learned to fly and from that time on, the
hawk could not keep him at home, so the hawk tossed Homer out of the nest and
sent him on his way.
The
sergeant was not a retard, but the army could not find anything else that he
could do, He was a farm boy and use to animal droppings on the ground. Having
something to step in made him feel right at home. His uniform looked like it
had been used for catching bird
droppings, for some time, and he did smell bad.
When
Homer retired from service, he was given a job as a secretary in a dentist’s office
where he would entertain the children while the dentist worked on their teeth.
Homer
never found a mate and there was no family to care for. One day he went for a
flight out over the country and he never came back.
Some
how, The hawk had taught him how to circle a chicken coop, and a farmer
thinking he was a chicken hawk, could have shoot him down. But no body was ever
located, also he could have flown on down to Mexico and died there. He never
had a visa or a pass port, so he may even be in a jail in Mexico. He learned
how to speak Spanish in the army……but the words were all bad.
Of
course, there is a chance that he is still flying around somewhere out there
and you may have seen him flying around your coop. If you have, let me know or
tell him to call, we have been worried about him! I wonder, could He have been a Her?
