Many
years before man arrived in this land, a tree grew, It was in a place where it
stood all alone, There were other trees around, but none close by.
When
man did appear in the area, this tree was thought to be special. It offered
more shade and cover than any other tree that could be found. The Meadow and
the stream of water that was close by, ran all the way down the valley. This
area was not close to any well traveled routes. Those that did wander into the
area, considered it to be a, very special.
Years
later, when it became better known, It was contained within a park and located
not far away from a small and new settlement of people. The tree was viewed by
generation after generation. It had survived some of the worst weather
conditions, Forest fires, Tornados, Bug infestations and stood there, for more
years than anyone knew. People would gather and celebrate special days around
this tree and one could hardly find a day when it wasn’t being used for
something special.
In
the later years, the tree started to die, little by little it lost it’s green
leaves, than the bark started to fall, but this process took a long- long
time. The day came, when there was
nothing more there, than a skeleton of a dead tree trunk and dead branches that
turned shades of gray. It became so smooth, year after year and appeared as if
someone had sanded it smooth.
The
younger generations were finding other things to do with their free time and
fewer people were spending time there. Mother nature was letting branches fall.
The tree was struck by lightening and was split open. It was considered to be
dangerous for people to be under it.
The
community decided to cut it down and people took the wood and turned it into
lumber or fire wood and they made some of the most beautiful items you would
ever see, with the material.
Many
years later, the land was taken over, as farm land, but where the tree stood,
it was difficult or impossible to plow. One day when they were having a
celebration with a tractor pulling contest. Some one suggested that all the
tractors hook onto that stump and pull it out of the ground. Almost every
tractor in the county was pulling on that stomp and it didn’t want to move.
Then the people were pulling on it with ropes and it started to give way and out
it came. Never before, had it taken so much man and tractor power to remove a
stump. But plowing over that spot, where
the stump was, wasn’t all that easy and the equipment being used in the field
was being damaged.
In
a few years, another old stump was found growing in the same location. It was even older and had been cut down long before. It was pushing it’s way up to the surface, as
if it was being done by magic.
As
it grew, it was even more beautiful than the first stump. It was like a
petrified rock with many colors showing every where. They used the stump as a podium for out-door
services, and the day came, when they built an “All Denomination Church”, over that stump and it
was used as a podium for any church, from that day on.
The
people made that church in to the most beautiful church in the world. It was
becoming a land mark , a sight to see, and people came from around the country
to view it.
