Is confession good for you ? I would guess that depends on who you ask. Your mouth can be a trap, once you open it, and some ears can pick up anything even if it is a mile away, And when ones mouth is open, things come out that you should not have said. And the person, you didn’t want to hear what you said, is standing right there and never missed a word.
Now you try to change it, or cover it up and it only makes matters worse. You just as well shoot yourself in the head and get it over with, as you will never be forgiven. Chances are that half of what you said was true to start with. This is a really good explanation of things I write, Most of it is written for my grandkids and kids. It is supposed to give them some idea of what I am all about, my thoughts and beliefs.
Now I am finding out that my family never read most of what I write. They each have their own reasons and with all that life brings today, who has time to read what an old man writes? I learned some time ago, that most of my friends don’t bother to read my stuff either, When I ask what they thought about a story, They just try to be polite and say they liked it. It is a good thing that I don’t ask the what the story was about, they would be caught in a trap.
I have always heard that the pen is mightier than the sword, but with a sword cut, one has to stop the bleeding. The words you write with a pen, just seem to fade away. I know there is one person that reads this stuff, that is my wife Peggy, as I ask her to read it and tell me what it is about. I am not really sure if she is truthful or not. I do not set out to write about certain things. I just start writing and let it go wherever it takes me. Come to think about it, I am not too sure about myself? Oh well! As they say, it keeps me out of jail and from under foot.
Truth is for teaching youngsters the difference between right and wrong. If you have ever tried this, you will already know how bad it will fail. The youth of today, act like they are listening, but they never hear a word of what you were telling them. My Grand-father was like that, He never spoke or understood English and he was deaf. I tried to tell him things, but he just stood there and looked at me. My Grandmother, had a good education, she spoke real good English and I am sure she spoke other languages as well. One thing that I really regret, is I never had since enough to ask the right question. I would encourage all young people to ask questions of all the older people in the family and find out about their lives form as early as they can remember. And a young person should write all that stuff down.
But making a young person understand why, is, almost hopeless. Young people are far too busy to be bothered with this stuff, but the day will come and they will want to know everything. Families use to set and talk with each other. Today, no one is interested in anything, only if it is for their own interest.
My generation is the last of the people that knew what life was about and was suppose to be like. Very few know about being polite or courteous. A week ago, I sat with an old guy from Hot Springs, watching a funeral procession go by. People with cars, using the streets had no idea what they should have done. They cut in and out of the funeral procession , wouldn’t let the procession pass through the stop lights. Where were the city police, they should be directing the traffic, but maybe they don’t even know these things themselves.
How many people do you see holding a door open for another person? If you see this, chances are, they are older person, from my generation! When was the last time you heard someone say, excuse me or I’m sorry? It appears that no young person has learned anything about being courteous or politeness. It was up to the parents to teach these things to their child. But the parents didn’t learn this stuff when they were young and therefore they couldn’t teach the children.
Now, who should teach the child this stuff. It would help if the teachers would do it. But teachers of today don’t teach anything much, They use an outline made up by people ( like people on a school board or the PTA ) and they don’t know the values of being courteous and politeness. These basic things were taught by the parents and in schools all over the country in past years.
Today, teachers teach for money, they could care less if a student learns anything. Why is it that so many people are just now learning to read and write. Teachers need to be taught and learn themselves, about teaching, before they are hired to teach our children.
There are some people out there that think more money for teachers is the answer to all problems for schools. A really good teacher is one who has taught for many years and is in the game for children to learn.
Some teachers should be school janitors. Sports are not a subject to be taught in schools and there are other subjects that should be taught first.
Money for schools come from taxes, taxes come from people that live in the Cities and Counties and State. A lot of these people do without a lot of things they need so they can pay their taxes.
Did you think that money grew on trees? Why not say that people that earn thirty thousand dollars a year( $ 30.000 ) and above, should have to pay thirty three percent of their earnings to the schools system each year as long as they have a child in school. This would be for the basic needs of a school. Anything that is taught above that, Pay if you Play, is the way to go!
Let the student be tested, and use each students score to determine the amount a teacher’s salary should be. Yes, the more the student learns, the better the teacher is paid. Pay them for what they do, not for what they try to do! If a student fails, let it show on the teachers records and that record is to follow the teacher in his or her career.
There are so many parents that do not want their children to attend a public school and prefer to home school them. I must say, the difference in what the child learns is like night and day. The home schooled student has so much more to offer to the world and is so better prepared for facing life in this day and age.
Think back, when people were saying, Take religion out of schools, separate religion and state. Remove the words (In God we Trust) from government buildings and where ever they are found in writings. Stop saying the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag in a class room.
Isn’t this were all the problems began? Now don’t you think these things need to be put aside and get back to some of the proven ways. Do you know that thousands of people do not know what the “Pledge of Allegiance is “or what the “words to it are”? I think it is time to go back to praying in the class rooms and let those that are involved to determine what is right or wrong. I CAN’T BELIEVE MY EYES, Did I just say that?
With all the things that are involved in life today, we have been sleeping through all this stuff that now needs our attention. And what a job it is going to be, to get it back on track, that is if it is ever to get back to where it once was.
Our sociality is lazy and don’t want to do anything that requires a little effort. It’s that “Let George do it Group” again. The same ones that say “ not in my back yard” you won’t! These are the people have been handed everything on a silver platter and never have even said, “Thank You”
These are the people that need to be sent off to another country, where they Blow themselves up to kill other people. Where they don’t have the freedoms that you find in this country. And in time, these freedoms will not be found here, unless people can take note and band together and get some-thing done! Think about all the wars and the lives that have been given, so you could have such freedoms. Now your sons and daughter are doing it all over again and it is because of your laziness that they are in harm’s way.
