There is a New Dog in the neighbor hood and you should see the lady that came with her.
Standing on the outside of the fence,. is a mixture of mutts that are extremely excited and looking for a way to get inside that fence. On the back deck, sets this super pretty girl that looks to be around eighteen years of age, medium length dark hair and with what one can see, a gorgeous figure. What ever it is that she is wearing, there sure isn’t much of it. At her feet is a tail of a dog wagging or waving to some on lookers out side of the fence . One can hear the whining sounds with an occasional bark.
Then, for no reason, the girl gets up and goes into the house and the dog stands and wiggles her rear, as she walks along with her mistress. One of the dogs, a large Alaskan Husky. He goes down the ally and around to the front of the house and parks himself in the shade of a bush and waits, he somehow knows that sooner or latter that new dog will come out the front door. The afternoon slowly goes by and he is hungry and if he doesn’t get something to eat soon, he won’t have any strength left to do anything. The sun is setting as he travels the well used trails to his home ground. All those other dogs are left standing there by the fence, as if someone was going feed from a silver plate.
A few of them go up and down the alley. Getting into garbage cans, trying to find food. What they will get is some old lady chasing them away with her broom. The worst that can happen is for someone to call the city dog catcher. I wonder if any of them have thought about that?
Before long all of those strays will have left the back fence and no doubt will find some mischief to get into. One of the dogs had legs so short that his belly was dragging on the ground. Who ever was feeding him was doing a great job. This guy must weight twice the amount that he should weigh. At least he could still hold his short tail high in the air. He had such sad looking eyes, it made one feel sorry for him. But what was there to be sorry about, he was well fed, so he must have a good home!
When dogs run together, how do they decide who the leader is? Is it always the biggest dog or oldest, or maybe the old lady of the pack. Those that snarl the loudest, are treated with a lot of respect. Have you noticed how some dogs just lay down with their feet sticking up in the air. Are they that smart or just avoiding a fight. I think they are smart! When my old lady gets mad, I know the best thing to do is, get out of the way and keep the mouth closed.
One of the other dogs was called Thunder and with a name like that it makes you wonder why? If a dog is called Lady. Right away you think you can pet her, but she won’t even let you get close. The ones that are called Killer are usually the pussy cats, but I am not going to trust any of them. I have a friend that is called Three fingers. Two of his fingers are in the belly or were in the belly of a bull dog on the east side of town. Something to remember, the name of a dog doesn’t tell you much about the disposition of a dog.
The sun was up above the horizon when the Husky stuck his head out of the door to his dog house. It was going to be another nice day and a special one for him. On the outside, he stretched and shook and walked down to the fish pond for a drink. He saw his reflection in the water and decided to freshen himself up. Into the water went his head and then he would shake it. Again he done this and came out with a mouth full of water. He swished it around in his mouth and spat it out, He took a paw and went back and forth with it to clean his teeth. Then he laid in the grass on his back and wiggled, thinking this would smooth out his coat of hair. On the way, he would find a flower bed and roll it, this would make him smell better.
He thought, such a high class dog like this one, would never be up this early. So he found a better spot closer to the walk way and settled in. Sure enough, about mid morning the front door opened and out steps some tennis shoes, boys tennis shoes. They were on a young boy eleven or twelve years of age. Then on a floating cloud, came this dream dog that he had been waiting for. She was on a short leash and her head was held high as they came down the walk. About half way, she noticed him and just before getting to where the Husky was, she turned her head and looked the other way. The thought to himself, so she is going to play hard to get, is she? Well I can play that game also. So with a couple of loud barks, that turned their heads toward him, He turned and trotted the other way.
Later that day he returned to the alley behind this house, he was searching for a way to get into the back yard. There was a gate, but it had to be opened from the inside. He could jump higher than most dogs, but this fence was a little too high. While he was standing there, a pick-up truck parked in the alley behind the house, next door. and it had a shed that was close the fenced in yard. He could jump into the bed of the pick-up and then up to it’s roof, over to the shed and from there, he could easily jump down to the ground. He could open the gate to get out from the inside. He knew that the dog was let out into the back yard for a time each evening. He would come early and lay and wait.
That evening he arrived at his destination, but no pick-up was parked there. That part of the plan was out, so he just stood out side the fence and waited. Some time later that glamorous dog came out and she saw him right away. She stood there looking at him for a time then she slowly walked toward him until they were nose to nose at the fence. I am sure there were little whines or groans being exchanged and they sniffed each other as much as possible through the fence.
After a time they called the dog in and the Husky started for home. Maybe he would be luckier tomorrow evening. He lounged around most of the day, have little interest in anything. When the pack of dogs came by, he just let them go their way. He wasn’t eating very good. It must be love, if not that, then what else could it be?
The sun was setting in the west and it would be time to pay another visit to his new found friend and lover, he was wishing for. Luck was with him this time, he leaped upon the truck bed and up on the roof of the cab and over to a shed and from there to roof of the shed next door. Them down to the ground and that was a hard landing. He had underestimated that part of the plan. He would lay down by some bushes and wait until she came out.
The sun had gone down over the horizon and it wasn’t long before the lady was standing on the back deck. She looked around but didn’t see him off to the side and partly under a bush. He whined and that gave her his location. She ran over to where he was with a wigging tail, nose to nose or was it kiss to kiss doggy style! They snuggled for the longest time, until the lady was called to come in for the night. On the way to the back door, she kept turning and looking back at the Husky. Did you hear what she said?
It sounded like “Parting was with sorrow” perhaps we can meet again soon! He would lay there for some time, then open the gate and return to his own ground. He was restless and sleep was hard coming. Now sometimes dogs have dreams, and this Husky was having one that was the king of all horrifying dreams. He was soaking wet from perspiration, you would think he had been in the fish pond. He has never had a dream like this before, why was he having them now? He has been in love before and that never caused him to dream!
Could he be allergic to this new dog in town? He found his way to her side again that evening and she had accepted him as her suitor. After she had been called to come in, he returned to his dog house and that night he had another very disturbing night of rest. The Husky decided to stay away from girl for a night and see if he had another bad dream. That night as he retired he had a hard time of relaxing and he finally drifted off to slumber land. When morning came around, he had slept all through the night with no bad dream. It was difficult for him to do, but he stayed away for a second night and again there was no bad dream.
After two nights away, he decided to try again, Arriving at the alley behind her house, there was no pick-up parked, for him to use. He had to set outside the fence until she came out. He tried to show her and give instructions to her on how to go about opening the gate with her nose. But it proved to be useless , she had no idea of what he was trying to get her to do. They went nose to nose through the fence and had their paws touching one in other for a while, them she was called in again and he slowly walked the path home. That night he had the worst dream a dog could ever have, He was shaking so bad that he thought the dream was real. If only he was inside with someone to comfort him and pet him, anything to shake off this feeling that he was having.
The following morning, when that pack of dogs came by, he decided to run with them. As they moved around, they fell into a trap set up by the dog catcher. There was no way to escape and they all were captured and put in cages. They were driven to a building just inside the city limits and placed in pens. They were given water and food and there was a place for them to lay and sleep. The Husky had a collar and tags with the name and phone number on it, But he was to be in this confinement area for a number of days before someone from his family came to bail him out.
He was happy to be back home and we think he knew how lucky he was to have had a home. What ever happened to those other dogs, he had no idea. One thing that he knew, he wasn’t having any more bad dreams. The last he had heard, the new dog had a litter of puppies and they all looked to be half mixture of a number of other animals. The Husky was a winner, no matter what you think.
So, now the new dog in town loses her status of being a high class pooch and is now being looked down upon. It wouldn’t have been so bad if the pups would have been cute or better looking. It’s not going to be easy to give them away when they look this bad. The owner was looking forward to selling the pups after she was bred with another thoroughbred, Now they will have to pay some one to take them away.
The young mistress and her family paid little attention to their dog now, She doesn’t get brushed and combed or bathed and a ribbon on her tail or head. Being looked down upon and ignored is going to be hard to take, she may even have to run away from being persecuted. If only she had submitted to the Husky, but he sure didn’t try very hard to get her to submit.
The morning paper has an add on the back page. It say wanted a homes for rare puppies and the mother. Call this number for information. 123-456- 7890
