One day a long time ago, a young Gorilla found the door to his cage was left unlocked. Having nothing better to do, he decided to go exploring. The sun was just coming up on the horizon and it was still quiet around the city. A few cars were moving here and there, and the sound of sirens could be heard from off in a distance.
The young Gorilla found his way down alleys and through back yards, taking note of everything. A dog or two saw him and barked, but he just ignored them. As he entered the main part of the city, he could smell the bread from a near by bakery. He went around a street corner and a cat startled him, He had never seen a cat before and didn’t know what it was, causing him to fall backwards, into a window of an ice Cream Shop. It was cold inside this shop and the lid of one of the freezers was open and a cartons of some thing cold, were exposed.
Being a curious animal, he stuck a finger in one and then into his mouth. His eyes opened as big as silver dollars, he had tasted something that he liked very much. He dipped his fingers into this carton until the bottom was showing. It was gone within a half hour and he selected a second container, It was cold and good, but it had a different flavor.
He was just a young and small Gorilla and his stomach was starting to hurt. Well when the owner / operator came to open the shop, she found that small Gorilla, sitting on the floor and he looked very sick. About the same time the people at the zoo had just found an empty cage and was reporting that a young Gorilla had gotten away,
But soon thereafter, he had been returned to the zoo and a veterinarian was examining him. Not knowing what was wrong with the little guy, he was given medicine, that may or may not help him. By noon the little Gorilla was active and swinging around in his cage. He kept going to the door of the cage and trying to open it. But this little guy was taught well. Later, when no one was around, he discovered that he could pull the pins on the hinges and get out of his cage. He learned to replace the hinge pins so no one would know, just how he got free. They would think that the door was left unlocked again.
Each time he was missing, he was found at the Ice Cream shop, eating ice cream. When the word got out about the little Gorilla and the Ice Cream shop, People from everywhere, were coming to see him. The Shop was doing so much business, they had to work around the clock to make more ice cream. They hired extra people to work there. The ice cream shop even hired one of the Zoo people to stay at the shop with the Little Gorilla and take him back and forth from the Zoo to the Ice Cream Shop.
The young Gorilla grew so fast and was soon the largest Gorilla in the country. They had to stop bringing him to the Ice Cream shop, as a precaution, and Ice cream was delivered to the Zoo each day thereafter.

A nine (9) hundred pound Gorilla, had to have a very special built Cage, and it had it’s own ice cream freezer with TV and other things found in a living room. When children came to the zoo to see him, and they were well behaved, he will sometimes offer them some of his Ice Cream, but they have to stick a finger into the carton to get it!
To this Gorilla, Ice Cream was Ice Cream, he had no favorite flavor.
