I cried until my heart was empty, I felt numb and didn’t know what to do! These lessons were taught to me, but I must have been day dreaming at the time, as I remember nothing. My friend, he was the Captain of this small craft, he had invited me to go along on one of his outings in his new boat. It must have cost him a fortune and he no doubt , would have been paying for it, well into his old age. I say, would have, as he is no longer with us. He was lost at sea with his ship mate, they both went under so fast, I hardly knew the were gone.
An unexpected storm had came up and they were washed over board, The craft, it’s self, was undamaged and I was below deck where I was told to go when the storm started. The engine was still running and I didn’t know anything about steering or which way I was going. The craft was equipped with everything it needed to navigate on the ocean, But I knew nothing about these things. After many day of being at the mercy of the sea, I was able to go in a different direction and do a few other things. But I didn’t know which way to go,
A few days later, and far off in the distance, I could see a ship. I knew they were so far away they could never see me. There was a radio, but I knew nothing about operating them. I assumed that the ship was heading for a port somewhere. I turned the wheel on the craft and headed it in the same direction.
The engine kept the craft moving, and at times, I would lose sight of the ship. A day earlier, I was close to the craft compass notice that when I turned the wheel, the pointer on the compass would change. I don’t know how, I knew, but if that pointer on the compass was kept pointing in the same direction the craft would go in that direction.
Days had gone by and the craft continued to go, on it’s set course. Then one night, while I was asleep, something had hit the bottom of the craft and water was coming in everywhere. The craft went under and all I had was a cushion to hold onto. I knew I was going to die and I cried and cried and was so tired that I would fall asleep and wake up again when the water hit my face.
I was in the water so long, I lost tract of time. Once I heard something overhead, but my mind was so mixed up, I couldn’t even think. So I gave up knowing that sooner or later, the end would come. I cried even more and my eyes were so swollen I couldn’t see. Then I felt some thing touching me and it was cold and I cried some more. I knew something was going to eat me! The next, that I can remember, was the sound of a bell, a channel marker, it was for marking a channel for boats.
Then a while later, people were lifting me up and putting me in a box that was cold, it was a box of a pick-up truck.
I faded away again and when I woke, I was in a bed with white sheets and a nurse was standing close by, They had me tied down and I had a hundred or more tubes with needles in my arms. I went back to sleep.
While I was sleeping, an Angel came and told me, I would be okay and that my tears had attracted a dolphin and the dolphin had pushed me ashore and saved my life.
I had been adrift for more than three weeks, and some one had been watching over me,
Was that you Mom and Dad, I love you , I wish you were still here, so I could watch over you…………
